I’m not sure about you, but it’s getting extremely hard to contain my excitement over Hulu’s new series Castle Rock. As if the cast wasn’t appealing enough, Chosen Jacobs, who played Mike Hanlon in last year’s It, has now also been recruited.
Chosen Jacobs will be playing Wendell Deaver on the show, son of Henry Deaver. From what we’ve been able to gather so far, Henry Deaver, played by Andre Holland, will be the main focus of the events in the show, as evidenced in the teaser trailer from the Superbowl.
Though we are short on specific plot details, the official synopsis is as follows.
“A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT, and Needful Things, as well as novella “The Body” and numerous short stories such as “Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption” are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.”
However, we do know that a decent amount of King alums will be featured in the show including Sissy Spacek. Newcomer to the Stephen King-verse Bill Skarsgård will have a role in the show as well.
Beloved sheriff Alan Pangborn will be a regular character on the show. While he’s been played by two different actors in film adaptations in the past (included Michael Rooker), this time around Scott Glenn will be taking the role.
Castle Rock is set to premiere on Hulu this summer.
