Weinstein Co. and Dimension films have recently announced that the release date for Blumhouse’s Amityville: The Awakening has just been bumped. Again. Unfortunately, this time we can’t be sure what to expect or when to expect it as the release date has yet to be determined.
Amityville: The Awakening has been moved around a few times. Prior to the June 30th release date, the film was scheduled for some start-of-the-year-scares on January 6th, which was another move from April 1st, 2016. Prior to that, the original release date of was set in 2015. Hopefully this has to do more with the general planning and marketing of the film, and not the quality. Hopefully.
With no foreseeable release date, at this point, it doesn’t bode well.
Directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac), Amityville: The Awakening stars Bella Thorne (Scream: The TV Series), Cameron Monaghan (Gotham, Shameless), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Morgan, The Hateful Eight), Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time), and Kurtwood Smith (Robocop, That 70’s Show).
“Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.”
