Following reports earlier today that production had been cut early on the James Wan produced series, Swamp Thing, the DC Universe–the streaming platform where the series will air–released a teaser trailer in what appears to be some kind of strange bait and switch.
Nick Venable at CinemaBlend reported a little while ago that it appears that the original production order of 13 episodes was suddenly, and unceremoniously slashed to 10 with very little warning.
It could be that this is simply the growing pains of a new streaming service learning their best way of creating new content, but it didn’t look good, especially when a now-deleted post from Virginia Madsen showed up on Instagram earlier today calling the move a “terrible decision” made by people who have never “set foot in the swamp.”
The news was somewhat shocking considering the serious genre talent involved witht he series. Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf) and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th) are all a part of the series along with Madsen and with Wan producing.
Barbeau starred in the film version of Swamp Thing back in the 80s and her inclusion in the series was a bit of a casting coup for the show.
Let’s hope things get smoothed over at DCU, and in the meantime, check out the teaser for a first look at the titular character from the new show!
