I’ve been hearing for some time now about a series in the works involving the most amazing story of Patrick Bateman. While given the tremendous success of American Horror Story, FX has teamed up with Lionsgate to continue the horror series trend that many of us tune in for. The plans were announced back in late 2013 that the two giants were indeed teaming up to bring American Psycho to the small screen. Then, we heard nothing. According to Entertainment Weekly, the series isn’t at all dead. Merely keeping quiet.
The project itself is currently being written and executive produced by Stefan Jaworski, while Allison Shearmu and Ed Pressman are slated to produce as well. The premise of the series itself revolves around of course Patrick Bateman, as an older man in his mid-50’s. He takes on a protégé in a sadistic social experiment who will become every bit his equal – a next generation “American Psycho” if you will. I never once pictured Bateman taking a Robin to his Batman. Although, if done in a clever way I could go along with this. I just always figured Bateman as a loner. A man lost in his own little mind, where no one else seemed to measure up to his insane idealistic world. I suppose if the series gets past the pilot already and gets the green light, we will see where this goes.
In the meantime, enjoy my favorite clip from the film while I go listen to my Genesis record.
