Personally, I sometimes don’t know what to make of Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology American Horror Story. Some seasons are a gory, sexy mix of terrific supernatural weirdness, while others seem to be more concerned with shocking viewers than telling a good story.

Of course, the great thing about American Horror Story is that each new season brings with it a new story and new characters to get to know. AHS also possesses a supremely talented cast of recurring actors that return year after year.

Recently, co-creator Murphy confirmed to EW that three fan favorite AHS stars are headed back for this fall’s season 8. Those are Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, and Murphy’s seeming personal muse Sarah Paulson.

Paulson and Peters have of course appeared in all seven prior seasons of American Horror Story, often in leading roles. Peters and Paulson played arguably the two most important characters in last year’s Cult season.

Bates joined the AHS family for season 3, Coven, and went on to appear in Freak Show, Hotel, and Roanoke. Alas, she had to sit out Cult due to her brief stint on the now canceled Netflix comedy Disjointed.

The theme of American Horror Story season 8 is still unconfirmed, but recently, a leaked subtitled surfaced: Radioactive. When pressed on what that might mean by EW, Murphy refused to confirm or deny anything, as is his way.
