American Horror Story has been going strong now for soon to be eight seasons, and has already been renewed through season 10. Ryan Murphy’s FX horror anthology has carved itself out a place as a TV event, presenting new yearly tales of sex, death, and depravity.
While there’s been a few bits of crossover between past seasons, this fall’s season 8 – subtitled Apocalypse – will represent the first time that two prior AHS stories return to the forefront, and combine their characters and settings into one new thrilling season.
Apocalypse will combine season 1 – subtitled Murder House – with season 3 – subtitled Coven. Many AHS favorites will return, including original lead Jessica Lange, who’s been absent since playing Elsa Mars during 2015’s season 4, subtitled Freak Show.
Now, The Wrap reports that Murder House stars Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are both set to return for American Horror Story: Apocalypse, presumably reprising their roles of Ben and Vivien Harmon. Both characters are dead, but that never matters much on AHS.
This will mark Britton’s first appearance on AHS since season 1, as she’s one of the few cast members to not come back prior to this. McDermott appeared briefly in season 2 – subtitled Asylum – but has never returned to play a major role in a season before now.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres September 12th, and will kick off with the titular event, in a season debut entitled “The End.” Other returning favorites include Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, and Sarah Paulson, just to name a few.
