In an announcement via Twitter, American Horror Story creator and mastermind Ryan Murphy shared that the 8th season will see the return of series regulars Taissa Farmiga, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, and the iconic Stevie Nicks.
While we don’t have a confirmation of which characters Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy will portray (they had appeared in both Coven and Murder House seasons), it’s likely that Stevie Nicks will return as the White Witch from her appearance in Coven.
We can assume that Gabourey Sidibe and Lily Rabe will return as their roles from Coven (though Rabe did also appear in Murder House as ghostly socialite Nora Montgomery), but there’s always the possibility of new characters in the mix.
The announcement comes fresh off of the first teaser trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse (revealed yesterday).
We also recently learned that AHS royalty Jessica Lange will return for the new season as Constance Langdon from Murder House. Lange will join series regulars Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, and Billie Lourd (all in new roles), as well as Emma Roberts (returning as Madison Montgomery), and Sarah Paulson.
Dame Joan Collins is also set for an appearance.
Sarah Paulson will be working overtime: she’s set to play three different characters, including Cordelia Foxx (Coven) and Billie Dean Howard (Murder House, Hotel). She will also direct an episode, as will Evan Peters.
It’s all starting to come together. We still have absolutely no clue how it’s all going to look as a cohesive whole, but we’ve gotta say, this all sounds pretty wild. Consider our interest piqued.
American Horror Story: Apocalypse premiers on FX starting September 12, 2018.
