FX has officially given the go-ahead to Ryan Murphy’s proposed spin-off of American Horror Story. The new series titled American Horror Stories  part of FX’s programming slate through 2021.

As we reported back on May 11th, Murphy dropped a tease on his Instagram account about the idea of a new anthology series which will be comprised of standalone episodes much like The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected.

While Murphy’s American Horror Story has been renewed to include four more seasons, the show is currently in limbo due to production delays as a result of Covid-19. They were meant to begin filming in early April, but have been unable to do so with most studios shut down. The same is true for Murphy’s American Crime Story.

The delays could actually work in the new series’s favor, giving Murphy and his crew of writers time to begin crafting their one-off episodes for American Horror Stories. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will they adapt works from authors? Will it all consist of original stories from the writing room?

It’s hard to say, but with Murphy in the driver’s seat, the series will no doubt be one to tune into each week.
