Season three of American Gods is set to debut on Starz on January 10, 2021, and if the new trailer is any indication fans are in for one hell of a ride.
War is drawing ever between the old gods led by Wednesday (Ian McShane) and the new gods with Mr. World (Crispin Glover) in the lead. Before it can get underway, however, Wednesday/Odin has some fences to mend with his right-hand man Shadow (Ricky Whittle).
The new trailer also shows a whole host of new faces set to appear this season including Marilyn Manson, Danny Trejo, Julia Sweeney, and Blythe Danner in the role of Greek Goddess Demeter.
American Gods is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman which tells the story of a conflict between the Old Gods brought to America by immigrants from around the world and New Gods like Media and Technology that are slowly taking over. It’s an epic tale filled with folklore and legends from every culture and time that has drawn in readers time again since it was first published.
The series has not been without controversy however. Many fans were incensed over the the exclusion of Orlando Jones as Mr. Nancy in season three. The character took on a larger role than he had in the novel, and had become a fan favorite. Jones was allegedly let go when studio heads decided that his character did not fit the image of the story moving forward. Jones contested his removal and has spoken openly about it.
American Gods will premiere on January 10th on Starz. Check out that new trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments!
