One of the staples of every Halloween season is AMC’s FearFest, an extended horror movie marathon that runs straight through the big day. Like ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween and Syfy’s 31 Days of Halloween, we’re very happy to report that the annual FearFest is returning this year.
It was back in 1996 that the network first began celebrating Halloween with a marathon of horror movies, making this year’s event the 19th anniversary. Though the marathon has varied in length over the years, at its shortest only spanning one week, we’ve just learned that FearFest 2015 will run for two full weeks.
As reported on the AMC FearFest Twitter account, the fun will begin on October 18th…
“Loyal and devoted FearFest viewers, we truly wish we could have started FearFest earlier this year,” the account tweeted out over the weekend. “It seems as the years go by, the time we are allotted is shortened. We hope you will stick with us and enjoy what time we do have together!”
“Once again FearFest will begin on the 18th!” the announcement continued. “But we will be showing more horror films daily beforehand (just not exclusively). Please check our website for the movies playing in your region!”
This year’s FearFest schedule hasn’t yet been unveiled, but we’ll be sure to let you know once it is!
If you can’t wait for the marathon to begin, be sure to check out AMC’s new streaming service Shudder, which is essentially a year-round version of FearFest that YOU get to control!
