Lore is returning for a second season run this Fall exclusively on Amazon Prime. The bi-weekly horror podcast phenomenon turned Amazon series explores the origins of true terrifying folklore tales. Presented in a docu-drama style by creator Aaron Mahnke, Lore covers stories ranging from vampires, to serial killers, to the origin of the lobotomy, and everything in between.
Gale Anne Hurd, Howard T. Owens, Ben Silverman, Brett-Patrick Jenkins, Jon Halperin, and Mark Mannucci are executive producers for season 2, with Aaron Mahnke as a co-executive producer. Sean Crouch, who penned episodes of Fox’s The Exorcist and CBS’ Numbers, will be replacing Glen Morgan as showrunner for the second season.
“Customers loved the first season of ‘Lore’ for its unique blend of narrative and documentary storytelling, and we’re excited to give them another season of this suspenseful hybrid series,” said Heather Schuster, Head of Unscripted at Amazon Originals. “Sean brings great experience in the supernatural genre, and we’re excited for him to help us tell even more frightening and visually captivating stories.”
Amazon’s first season of Lore added an extra layer to these creepy tales by including dramatizations and archive footage to supplement Mahnke’s narration. The adjustments behind the scenes sound like Amazon hopes to give us an even scarier, more refined experience this time around. The feedback for the first season was mostly positive with some reviewers mentioning the narration style needing some tweaking. Are you looking forward to the second season of Lore on Amazon Prime?
