Alexandre Aja Will Direct ‘Elijah’ for Fox Searchlight Pictures

by Waylon Jordan

Alexandre Aja (Crawl) is set to direct Elijah for Disney-owned Fox Searchlight Pictures. The French director will team up with Gregory Levasseur for script rewrites, taking over from Cory Goodman (The Last Witch Hunter) who sold the original pitch to Searchlight before the director became involved according to Deadline.

The film’s synopsis reads as follows:

Elijah follows a young boy who invites a mysterious man into his home, believing the stranger to be the key to saving his sick mother. As increasingly disturbing things start to happen around his home, the boy soon realizes that the sinister stranger is not the savior he claims to be.

Aja is no stranger to genre filmmaking having written and/or directed High TensionThe Hills Have Eyes (remake), and Horns based on the novel by Joe Hill among others. This is the fifth time that he has collaborated with Levasseur. The two most recently worked together co-producing the 2019 creature feature Crawl alongside Sam Raimi. It will be interesting to see what they bring to Elijah.
