Adrienne Barbeau took to Twitter earlier today to announce her “return to the swamp” in James Wan’s brand new Swamp Thing series.

Barbeau, who starred as Alice Cable alongside Louis Jourdan, Ray Wise, and Dick Durock in Wes Craven’s 1982 adaptation of the DC comic, will join a cast bursting with genre favorites.

Swamp Thing debuted in the 1970s at DC Comics with Len Wein writing the first 10 issues, and has since reappeared through five separate series and in crossovers with other popular DC titles.

Jennifer Beals (The Bride), Virginia Madsen (Candyman), Will Patton (The Mothman Prophecies), Kevin Durand (Legion), and Andy Bean (IT: Chapter Two) have all previously been announced for the cast, and Derek Mears (Friday the 13th [2009]) will play the titular role.

There is no word yet on who Barbeau will be playing, but this is a serious boost to an already highly-anticipated series.

Swamp Thing will be available on the DC Universe streaming service and is expected to debut later this year.
