Pre-pandemic, A24 was set to release one of their newer films, The Green Knight, directed by David Lowery (A Ghost Story) on May 29 of this year. Unfortunately, like so many other movies including another A24 film, Saint Maud, it was not to be. However A24 is making up for our lack of knights with a tabletop RPG game, “The Green Knight: A Fantasy Roleplaying Game.”

The Green Knight Board Game

The game, which you can buy on A24’s online shop, includes a Game Master’s Guide (with Rules of Play, Official Encounters, and A24 Bonus Quests), Map of the Realm, 5 character sheets, and 20-sided die. The site also states that they will start shipping Aug. 7 and is currently listed at $35.

They also released a fun, retro-style trailer for the game, which you can see below.

A new release date has yet to be announced for the film, as is the case for most. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Chappie), Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, Tomb Raider), Joel Egderton (The Gift, It Comes at Night), Barry Keoghan (The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Dunkirk), Kate Dickie (The VVitch, Prometheus) and Ralph Ineson (The VVitch, Guardians of the Galaxy) star in this dark fantasy.

The Green Knight

The plot is as follows: “An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger.”
