It’s time to nut up or shut up – again! Yes, it’s true, Zombieland 2 is now set to become a reality in 2019.

Speaking to Vulture about the original film’s 10 year anniversary, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick figured the best way to celebrate 10 years of Zombieland would be to simply make a sequel. And they’re not wrong.

From the interview:

We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland … Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2. … The hope is that we’re shooting that thing early 2019 for an October of ’19 release … With the original cast, by the way.

There’s more information on the project, but the duo is keeping tight lips on further details as of now. They added:

We are sitting on information that we can’t entirely share at this moment, but we can just say we think fans of Zombieland who have been hoping for a Zombieland 2, that we will grant their wish very, very soon.

In a world where just about every horror movie ever made has gotten a sequel, it almost seems a given that Zombieland would return eventually. But the 10-year wait has made it much sweeter; and the fact that the first is one of the greatest horror comedies of all time doesn’t hurt, either.

We can pretty much say without a doubt that Bill Murray will not be returning, but that still leaves Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and of course Woody Harrelson. Not a bad lineup, really.
