Hey Tightwads! Another week has passed, so it’s time for another batch of free movies from Tightwad Terror Tuesday and iHorror. So, without further ado, here they are…
Big Trouble in Little China
Big Trouble in Little China is John Carpenter’s 1986 ode to the martial arts action film. It’s about a trucker who has to rescue his friend’s fiancée who has been kidnapped to be married off in order to break the curse of an old evil sorcerer.
It’s hardly a horror film, but Big Trouble in Little China is pure Carpenter schlock. It’s also one of his team-ups with Kurt Russell, so you know it’s a hoot. Kim Cattrall stars as well. Check out Big Trouble in Little China here at Crackle.
The Ruins is about a group of tourists in Mexico who go in search of an ancient ruin. They find it, along with all of the mystic and supernatural trouble that comes with it.
This 2008 is sort of like a combination of The Happening and the “The Raft” segment from Creepshow 2. It’s actually a lot cooler than that makes it sound, though. The cast includes Jena Malone, Shawn Ashmore, Laura Ramsey, and Jonathan Tucker. Catch The Ruins here at TubiTV.
The Horror Show
The Horror Show is about a murderer, awesomely named Meat Cleaver Max, who is executed in the electric chair. Only the electrocution hasn’t actually killed him, it’s just passed him over to a metaphysical plane where he is able to torment the cop who caught him.
The Horror Show was made in 1989, the same year as the similarly-conceptualized Shocker. It was also rebranded as House III, even though it has nothing to do with the other House movies. Brion James stars as Meat Cleaver Max, and Lance Henriksen plays the cop who brought him in. Watch The Horror Show here at Vudu.
Made in 2009, Sweatshop is about some kids who break into an abandoned factory warehouse to throw a rave. Unfortunately for the partiers, the building is not empty, and it soon becomes clear that they picked the wrong place for their event.
Although it’s a bit derivative and contrived, Sweatshop is a fun little slasher-esque thriller. There’s nothing in it that hasn’t been done before, but it does what it does well. See Sweatshop for yourself right here at FrightPix.
Not to be confused with the Batman video game with which it shares a name, Dark Tomorrow is about a guy who wakes up from an alcoholic bender missing an entire year of his life. To further complicate matters, during his lost year, he had been accused of murdering his fiancée, and is now a fugitive.
This 2002 horror mystery is a fun concept, and it’s executed fairly well. Dark Tomorrow is a tiny little independent release, so if you want to see something really underground, this may be it. Have a look at Dark Tomorrow right here at DailyMotion.
