Don Mancini, creator of the Child’s Play franchise, teased today via Twitter that a TV series for the franchise is definitely coming.

“Do not adjust your set,” the message in the form of a gif reads as a distorted image of Chucky flashes. Reading the title card, Child’s Play: The TV Series, is enough to give one chills.

Besides this one spooky image, details are sparse with the announcement. But Mancini did say in the beginning of this year that Brad Dourif will be voicing the character in the series and that it will pick up right where the film series ends at the time being.

“We plan to use Child’s Play in the title,” Mancini told Bloody Disgusting in February, “We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.”

He also elaborated that it will be “dark and disturbing” in tone, which is, obviously, a good thing.

Does this mean that the films will end and that the franchise will continue only on the small screen? Not necessarily. But with the rise of streaming and VOD, the line between television and home video is now nearly indistinguishable.

We’re hoping for more details soon. In the meantime, let the speculations begin!
