Nestled in the mountains of Colorado overlooking the village of Estes Park, the Stanley Hotel has stood for more than a hundred years, and its storied past is known to horror fans the world over. After all, it was the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining, and it has a reputation for being one of the most haunted locations in the USA.
There was a time when the Stanley shied away from that reputation, but that time is long passed.
Today, the hotel embraces its haunted history and displays its connection to King’s seminal novel with pride. From daily tours to a channel that show’s Kubrick’s adaptation of the novel, The Shining is ever present.
And then, there’s the annual Twin Terror Weekend and Shining Ball that takes place each October. The hotel just released all the details for the annual pair of weekends, and it sounds like the perfect way to celebrate the season!
