Piss Jar and Licks: Twisted Ma & Pa of Pitchfork Speak Out

Published

on

What were the motivations behind The Hollisters actions? What was their philosophies?

Ma: Psychopaths tend to be born so there is likely a genetic predisposition in Ma to commit these evil acts. Ma manipulates PA and Pitch to benefit her needs and goals. She mocks anything that will make a person weak… like love. Her criminal behavior is careful and calculated. Who do you think killed Trisha (dog walker) and the cops? She has lived in a rural area for years and gone under the radar … thought of as eccentric, but never capable of abuse and murder. She is satiated by the control and abuse of her son and unquestioning loyalty from PA, but once Ma has captured prey in her house, she can give in to her more wicked desires and impulses. Pitchfork is both the victim and the manifestation of his mother’s sexual perversity and her psychopathic perspective of the world.

Pa: You know, to state the obvious, I don’t think Ma and Pa come equipped with the basic filters needed to be part of the human race. For them, well at least for Pa , Pa thinks he is in charge and the big bossman  and he thinks the world owes him something.  Somewhere along the way he got done dirty and now he uses that to justify his cruelty and tells himself “They deserve it them city folk.” He has some sort of score to settle with the world…and maybe the Killians in particular? We will have to wait and see if that comes out in the origins prequel? Now as for Ma’s motivation…hmmmm. I do not pretend to have a clue as to what motivates a woman, so Pa sure as hell don’t get it either.

Did The Holisters have a grand plan, or were they just flying by the edge of their urges and ID?

Ma: I don’t feel they had a grand plan. What happens on the night the film takes place was unexpected … Pitchfork cut his hand off to get away and MA and PA had to go after him. Both of them have to improvise and for them this is new territory.

Pa: A grand plan? I don’t think it was a plan on a large scale Like I said, Pa just thinks he is the boss, the head of the Holister clan and Pitch is his dog to kick. Ma, I think, is the smartest of the lot. But I can’t get to far into that, we will have to wait and see what the origins prequel shows us.

Ma and Pa clearly had their own version of love for each other. How do you imagine they met and just for fun, how do you think their first date went?

Ma: Pitchfork is a trilogy and the third installment is the prequel with the origins of the Hollister’s being the focus. I will save how MA and PA met for that movie. I would not want to ruin the surprise.

Pa: When I first read the script I put together a basic history of Ben Holister senior, Pa, I thought of Ma and Pa as children of immigrants and their families had pre-arranged their marriage, and Ma’s romantic vision of green grass and love was just a carryover from her childhood…but I gotta tell you I’m not even close on that…and sorry, you’ll have to wait for the origins prequel…I know, so let’s make it already! As for a first date?….well I think Ma would have invited Pa over for a home cooked meal at her place. Pa would have brought along the possum roadkill for the feast. After dinner, with Muskrat love playing on the AM radio in the background, Ma would get frisky with Pa cause let’s face it Ma has some pretty loose morals.

I am sure you have gotten a lot of questions about it, but lets talk about the pee jar. Glenn told me he was struggling to find an actress who would do the scene as is. Was this a hurdle to overcome with doing the scene?

Ma: No. Like many horror films what you see on screen isn’t how it’s actually filmed on set. Even so, for some performers to even act this scene is uncomfortable, but not for me. Although, I’m not sure I could have peed on cue with everyone watching … maybe if there was a faucet to turn on!

Has “He’s Got the Whole World” song been ruined for you?

Ma: No. In fact, when I hear the song it brings up fond memories of being on set. I smile.

When Pa stabbed Hunter’s hands into the table, what was his next move? On one side it seems as though he got himself stuck there, but seeing how Ma and Pa were acting through out I wouldn’t be surprised if he had something in mind for the follow up.

Pa: I think it was a knee jerk reaction from Pa, he was all upset at Hunter for being “undisciplined” and fighting back against Ma and he wanted to punish him. So yeah, he kinda stabbed his way into a corner. But he was going to roll with it, have him some fun with Ma’s play thing until she got tired of it. As you can tell from the basement scenes, Ma and Pa would have liked to drag this out for a long time slowly torturing Hunter and Clare to death will tossing in some fun sexcapades…just nice plain folk, having a good time…

Where would you like to see the character of Pa go from here?

Ma: It would be interesting to see the roles reversed between MA and Pitch and how she copes. I also love prequels and learning about who MA is as a young girl/woman intrigues me. Personally, I do not believe MA is a victim … I believe she is the true evil and showing her journey with this in mind leaves a lot to the imagination.

Pa: Well, at this point I like to think backwards on Pa, get into that origins prequel, Holister history story…but again if I say any more Glenn will string me up with barbed wire and go all Holister on me, yeah, I’ll avoid that. And if you’ve seen the film then you know Pa’s future…unless someones into voodoo…that would be cool.

Pitchfork is available on all streaming sites and will hit shelves on May 5th!

‘Evil Dead’ Film Franchise Getting TWO New Installments

Published

on

It was a risk for Fede Alvarez to reboot Sam Raimi’s horror classic The Evil Dead in 2013, but that risk paid off and so did its spiritual sequel Evil Dead Rise in 2023. Now Deadline is reporting that the series is getting, not one, but two fresh entries.

We already knew about the Sébastien Vaniček upcoming film that delves into the Deadite universe and should be a proper sequel to the latest film, but we are broadsided that Francis Galluppi and Ghost House Pictures are doing a one-off project set in Raimi’s universe based off of an idea that Galluppi pitched to Raimi himself. That concept is being kept under wraps.

Evil Dead Rise

“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence,” Raimi told Deadline. “He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”

That feature is titled The Last Stop In Yuma County which will release theatrically in the United States on May 4. It follows a traveling salesman, “stranded at a rural Arizona rest stop,” and “is thrust into a dire hostage situation by the arrival of two bank robbers with no qualms about using cruelty-or cold, hard steel-to protect their bloodstained fortune.”

Galluppi is an award-winning sci-fi/horror shorts director whose acclaimed works include High Desert Hell and The Gemini Project. You can view the full edit of High Desert Hell and the teaser for Gemini below:

‘Invisible Man 2’ Is “Closer Than Its Ever Been” to Happening

Published

on

Elisabeth Moss in a very well-thought-out statement said in an interview for Happy Sad Confused that even though there have been some logistical issues for doing Invisible Man 2 there is hope on the horizon.

Podcast host Josh Horowitz asked about the follow-up and if Moss and director Leigh Whannell were any closer to cracking a solution to getting it made. “We are closer than we have ever been to cracking it,” said Moss with a huge grin. You can see her reaction at the 35:52 mark in the below video.

Happy Sad Confused

Whannell is currently in New Zealand filming another monster movie for Universal, Wolf Man, which might be the spark that ignites Universal’s troubled Dark Universe concept which hasn’t gained any momentum since Tom Cruise’s failed attempt at resurrecting The Mummy.

Also, in the podcast video, Moss says she is not in the Wolf Man film so any speculation that it’s a crossover project is left in the air.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios is in the middle of constructing a year-round haunt house in Las Vegas which will showcase some of their classic cinematic monsters. Depending on attendance, this could be the boost the studio needs to get audiences interested in their creature IPs once more and to get more films made based on them.

The Las Vegas project is set to open in 2025, coinciding with their new proper theme park in Orlando called Epic Universe.

Jake gyllenhaal presumed innocent

Jake Gyllenhaal’s limited series Presumed Innocent is dropping on AppleTV+ on June 12 instead of June 14 as originally planned. The star, whose Road House reboot has brought mixed reviews on Amazon Prime, is embracing the small screen for the first time since his appearance on Homicide: Life on the Street in 1994.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s in ‘Presumed Innocent’

Presumed Innocent is being produced by David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and Warner Bros. It is an adaptation of Scott Turow’s 1990 film in which Harrison Ford plays a lawyer doing double duty as an investigator looking for the murderer of his colleague.

These types of sexy thrillers were popular in the ’90s and usually contained twist endings. Here’s the trailer for the original:

According to Deadline, Presumed Innocent doesn’t stray far from the source material: “…the Presumed Innocent series will explore obsession, sex, politics and the power and limits of love as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.”

Up next for Gyllenhaal is the Guy Ritchie action movie titled In the Grey scheduled for release in January 2025.

Presumed Innocent is an eight-episode limited series set to stream on AppleTV+ starting June 12.
