Patti’s Picks: 10 Of the Coolest Gremlins From the Movie Series
5. Greta Gremlin
The only female Gremlin, technically by a sex change serum ingested, is the most docile creature in both films. Presumably because of her gender, and her newly raging hormones, Greta has only one thing on her mind- her man. She develops a quick obsession with Clamp employee Forester, channeling that Gremlin killer instinct into doing everything she can to win his heart, She’s also the only Gremlin to survive the fallout of the Clamp Center. You go girl.
4. Phantom Gremlin
This Gremlin is so cool he channeled his inner horror fan and turned his misfortune into one of the most memorable characters from the sequel. The Phantom Gremlin recreates one of horror’s most infamous scenes from every adapted Opera film in the genre so perfectly. So of course he scores bonus cool points just for that.
3. The Brain Gremlin
They finally did it in the sequel. The Gremlin who drank a brain-enhancing serum in Clamp Labs quickly replaced the Mohawk Gremlin as the leader as his intelligence quadrupled, thus allowing him to speak and ultimately becoming the most dangerous out of the squad. Being able to communicate and with his heightened awareness, the Brain spoke exclusively with Grandpa Fred laying out exactly what he wanted for himself and his fellow tribe.
2. Bogart Gremlin
At the end of the day, ALMOST no other Gremlin is cooler than the Humphrey Bogart Gremlin. This dude is just sitting here, minding his own business getting his booze on with some sweet jazz when one of the other Gremlins comes along interrupting his me time. I’d be annoyed too. He just did what any one of us could only dream of doing when that one annoying person just won’t let you be as seen in the clip below promptly at 1:51.

1. Stripe
There’s no ifs, ands, or ca-cas about it. Stripe reigns supreme as King Gremlin and always will. The little terror bomb was the alpha male in the pack in the original movie and remained so up until his demise. He also seemed to be the most clever out of the entire squad, being one step ahead of Billy at every turn. He was also the only Gremlin that managed to avoid the Snow White Massacre at the theater. Even it was circumstantial due to him being on the hunt for some yum-yums. Vicious, cunning, and wonderful little one-liners, I’ll leave you with my personal favorite clip. Because nothing beats Stripe doing a cannonball in the school pool.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed
Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.
This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.
The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.
The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.
Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.
Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
