The big trend at the moment is turning popular horror movies into TV series,’ and there’s no shortage of those adaptations in various stages of development. Today we’ve learned that one of the next horror franchises to join the likes of Bates Motel and Hannibal on the small screen is Resident Evil, headed our way after the film series wraps up.
Variety broke the news today German production house Constantin Films is working on bringing several of their feature film properties to television, with Resident Evil being the most noteworthy of the bunch. The plan, at the present time, is for the spin-off series to premiere after Resident Evil‘s sixth installment hits theaters, presumably in 2016.
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set to begin filming next summer, and Milla Jovovich will be reprising her role of badass heroine Alice one more time. At the moment, we don’t yet know if Alice will be coming to the small screen for the series, as any and all details/plans are being kept under wraps.
Other properties that Constantin is looking to adapt for TV include The Mortal Instruments and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.
