Up until now, Friday the 13th icon Jason Voorhees’ only solo adventure in the video game realm – he also appeared as a DLC fighter in the recent Mortal Kombat X – took place back in the 8-bit NES days.
While Friday the 13th for the NES has earned itself a cult following over the years – partially for how ridiculously hard it is – it didn’t succeed in providing what most fans really wanted: the ability to play as Jason and slaughter the latest group of annoying counselors to take up residence at Camp Crystal Lake.
Thankfully, that is exactly what Gun Media’s upcoming Friday the 13th game is set to provide, offering players the chance to step behind the mask of everyone’s favorite undead mama’s boy and go to town with all kinds of implements of mayhem.
Sure, players can also opt to become one of the aforementioned counselors, in a fight to survive Jason’s bloody rampage, but let’s be honest, that’s probably not the main draw for most F13 diehards.
At this weekend’s PAX East gaming convention in Boston, Gun Media unveiled the latest trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game, set to a suitably 80’s-sounding song called Killer.
Included within are a whole bunch of newly unveiled kills that Jason can choose to inflict upon his unfortunate victims. Check it out below, then pick your jaws up off the floor.
Oh…hell..yeah. If that doesn’t get your Jason-loving blood pumping, there’s something wrong with you. Either that, or you yourself have already been killed by Jason. In that case, my condolences.
Friday the 13th: The Game’s main multiplayer component becomes available – on PS4, Xbox One, and PC – in the spring, while its heavily requested single-player campaign mode comes out in the summer.
