Never Forget: The Half-Naked Sax Man from ‘The Lost Boys’

Published

on

Question: What would The Lost Boys be without the amazing dancing bodybuilder saxophone scene?
Answer: Nothing. It would be nothing. The movie would suck.

That’s not entirely true – I’m trying to make a point here. So bear with me.

One of the greatest things about the 1987 film was its near-perfect presentation of ’80s pop culture in a horror film. Think about it. You’ve got the sexy vampire. You’ve got the incredible ’80s tunes. You’ve got not only Corey Frickin’ Haim, but Corey Frickin’ Feldman. And the hairspray – oh man, the hairspray.

But we don’t only get those things. We also get an overly masculine, almost comically jacked man oiled up, dancing, playing the saxophone, and belting out song in a deep, powerful voice. In a completely serious manner. Only in this decade could something like that happen, and I’m so glad it did.

I’m not making fun of the guy; I’m really not. Well, okay, maybe I am a little bit, but I’m making fun of the whole situation. I’d like to think that I’m laughing with him as he looks back on this scene and reminisces the time that he gave a powerful performance to a packed crowd in the middle of the night to a bunch of screaming females and vampires. It’s a great scene, one that reminds me why I love this decade so much. It’s just fun. Movies in this decade were not afraid to have fun. Why’s everybody gotta be so serious these days?

Let’s get another thing straight: the man is not just a piece of ripped, toned meat, either. The walking bicep has a name, and that name is Tim Cappello. He’s also extremely talented. Outside of gyrating provocatively in vampire films, Tim Cappello played for Peter Gabriel on his first two solo albums, as well as being a member of Tina Turner’s band for a number of years. You can hear him play on two of Turner’s tracks from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985), “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and “One of the Living”. Oh, and he also successfully beat heroin addiction, which is a huge accomplishment in itself. The man’s a trooper, and he deserves respect.

So, with that, enjoy a little bit of Tim Cappello at his finest. Here is him in The Lost Boys, singing “I Still Believe.” Bless you, man, bless you.

And here’s the song in full. Happy Halloween, my fiends!

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has given this film an “R” rating for its “bloody images,” hinting at the visceral and intense experience awaiting viewers. The film draws inspiration from acclaimed horror benchmarks like “A Quiet Place,” weaving a post-apocalyptic tale of a father and his two sons navigating a desolate world. Following a catastrophic event that depopulates the planet, the family faces the dual challenge of surviving their dystopian environment and eluding mysterious nocturnal creatures.

Joining Nicolas Cage in this harrowing journey are Jaeden Martell, known for his role in “IT” (2017), Maxwell Jenkins from “Lost in Space,” and Sadie Soverall, featured in “Fate: The Winx Saga.” Directed by Ben Brewer (“The Trust”) and penned by Mike Nilon (“Braven”), “Arcadian” promises a unique blend of poignant storytelling and electrifying survival horror.

‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3’ Is a Go with Enhanced Budget and New Characters

Winnie the Pooh 3

Wow, they’re churning things out fast! The upcoming sequel “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3” is officially moving forward, promising an expanded narrative with a larger budget and the introduction of beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s original tales. As confirmed by Variety, the third installment in the horror franchise will welcome Rabbit, the heffalumps, and the woozles into its dark and twisted narrative.

This sequel is a part of an ambitious cinematic universe that reimagines children’s stories as horror tales. Alongside “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its first sequel, the universe includes films such as “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “Bambi: The Reckoning,” and “Pinocchio Unstrung”. These movies are set to converge in the crossover event “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble,” slated for a 2025 release.

The creation of these films was made possible when A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book “Winnie-the-Pooh” entered the public domain last year, allowing filmmakers to explore these cherished characters in unprecedented ways. Director Rhys Frake-Waterfield and producer Scott Jeffrey Chambers, of Jagged Edge Productions, have led the charge in this innovative endeavor.

The inclusion of Rabbit, heffalumps, and woozles in the upcoming sequel introduces a new layer to the franchise. In Milne’s original stories, heffalumps are imagined creatures resembling elephants, while woozles are known for their weasel-like characteristics and a penchant for stealing honey. Their roles in the narrative remain to be seen, but their addition promises to enrich the horror universe with deeper connections to the source material.
