Ready to meet Morgan? The wait is almost over…
This Friday, September 2nd, 20th Century Fox unleashes Luke Scott’s Morgan on the big screen, and the marketing campaign for the horror-thriller has been one of the most unique we’ve ever come across. The titular character, we’ve gathered by now, is some form of artificial intelligence, and the AI aspect of the film was recently played up with a highly interesting video that saw real robots – yes, REAL ROBOTS – reacting to the movie’s trailer.
How cool is that?!
In another brilliant and ground-breaking fusion of fiction and real artificial intelligence, Fox just partnered up with the folks over at IBM to create the first ever movie trailer made almost entirely by AI. You’re probably wondering how that’s even possible and what that even means, so here’s a little explanation.
“Utilizing experimental Watson APIs and machine learning techniques, the IBM Research system analyzed hundreds of horror/thriller movie trailers. After learning what keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, the AI system suggested the top 10 best candidate moments for a trailer from the movie Morgan, which an IBM filmmaker then edited and arranged together.”
Crazy. And so very cool. Watch the AI-created trailer below!
The film’s cast includes Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti
In Morgan, produced by Ridley Scott…
A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
