‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Petition Calls For Boycott of the Salva Movie

Published

on

Written by Patti Pauley

Jeepers Creepers 3 in which sources say, is currently underway in Louisiana, has been nothing short of a controversial subject for some time-and rightfully so.

Director and creator of the Creeper (appropriately named) Victor Salva has been under fire from the public since his conviction for molesting the young star (Nathan Forrest Winters) of his first horror film Clownhouse. Salva served a total of fifteen months in prison for the heinous act, a time that many feel was not enough given the crime.

For those in the horror community, and on the outside, Salva’s past really is no secret and has been the subject for many arguments within the world of horror. Fans seem to be on one side or the other. One side calling for a boycott of Salva’s films and perpetually any future movies. The other side, seems to be in consensus that although they don’t agree with Salva’s past, they will still see the film.

We at iHorror don’t condone the acts of this filmmaker, however we’re here to report the news and while we’ve given you updates on the film itself for those wanting to see it, we’re also bringing news today for those who choose not to support his work that an online petition has been brought to our attention in regards to a national boycott of the upcoming movie.

A Change.Org petition has been brought forth urging people to sign, and spread the word to those who may not be aware of Salva’s unsavory past in an attempt to get as many as they can on board to actively, and loudly oppose the film. The petition states:

Jeepers Creepers 3 is currently in production. The director and creator of this franchise, Victor Salva, used his position to rape a 12-year-old boy in 1988 during the filming of the movie Clownhouse. He was convicted and served a measly 15 months in prison. As the three largest movie theater chains in the US, I urge you to not show this movie at your theaters. The profits from Jeepers Creepers 3 line the pockets of a pedophile. Monsters belong on the screen, not behind the camera.  I also urge other members of the horror movie community to take a stance. Spread the word and don’t watch this film!

Jeepers Creepers 3 is slated to be released sometime in the Fall of this year. If you’d like to view the petition, you can do so by clicking here.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
