I couldn’t go down the timeline of events and plot developments in the X-Men universe, but this latest trailer for the franchise, as a horror fan definitely has me intrigued.
The first trailer for X-Men: The New Mutants looks like a fusion of the comic with elements of Wan-style horror, something Darkhorse might dream up. Is that a reference to Jason Voorhees?
By the way, the release date happens to fall on a Friday the 13th in 2018.
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time horror movies have given main characters superpowers. If you think about it, Stephen King’s Carrie White certainly had X-Men abilities as did his original “Flame” Charlie McGee from Firestarter.
The premise of X-Men: The New Mutants appears that this new gang of superheroes is trapped in some sort of secret “haunted” facility and forced to overcome their past demons, battle new ones and come of age at the same time.
“This isn’t a hospital, this is a haunted house,” says one.
Set to the background of Pink Floyd’s creepy ballad The Wall, X-Men: The New Mutants in their tagline warns, “There is something new to fear.”
We can hardly wait to see what that is.
X-Men: The New Mutants is scheduled to be released on Friday, April 13, 2018.
