DEAD ISLAND 2 Trailer Makes the Wait Seem Worthwhile

Published

on

Hey guys, thanks for coming. We’re here to talk about the upcoming game Dead Island 2. But before we do that, we need to give this game a little background and go over its predecessors.

Dead Island was released in 2011 by Techland and Deep Silver and was an open world survival-horror, action zombie game. I remember the very first trailer I saw for it. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. When it came out…it was okay. I mean, the open world aspect was fun, the abundant side quests, the environment was pretty, and the game was fast paced.

Granted, it was a bit buggy but it was still unlike anything I had seen regarding zombie games. When I saw Dead Island Riptide (2013) I was very excited. It was the same characters, added to the storyline and added even more of the crazy weapon creations I loved from the first game.

Now…raise your had if you have ever been personally victimized by Dead Island Riptide.

Yeah, me too. It was one of the buggiest games I had ever seen. To this day it remains the buggiest games I’ve played and that includes the Fallout games (which I adore) and Battlefield. Sometimes I wonder if the green blood was due to censorship and the censored copies made their way to the US. And don’t get me started on the weird eye glitch.

Well…that was fucking terrifying.

Regardless, it was a disaster and it turns out, it wasn’t the sequel to the first game as most thought. It was created as an expansion to the first game. And we’re just going to completely skip over Escape Dead Island. SKIP!!

With the release of Dying Light in 2015 (Techland had a hand in this one but not Deep Silver), it was everything Dead Island was trying to be. Open world, fast paced, intense with the change in gameplay from day to night, and parkour!

Well, we have another Dead Island game acomin’ folks, Dead Island 2 and the trailer looks fantastic. Check it out.

I’ll give them this, they know how to get your attention. And is that Jack Black I hear??

Looks like we’re off the island and in California (three locations to be exact: Los Angeles, San Fransisco and a secret location) and everything is going to hell in a hand-basket.

By the looks of the trailer, it has maintained the fast paced aspect and the humor of the first game. It’s still being distributed by Deep Silver, but was to be produced by Yager Development until Sumo Digital took over this time last year. Techland decided to spend it’s energy on Dying Light (good call) and passed on Dead Island 2, hence their lack of involvement.

Dead Island 2

The release date has been pushed back many times, a notorious issue for this game company. Hopefully the extended release date means more care will be going into the actual game. As of right now, the release date is set for December 31, 2017. However, don’t get your hopes up, because often that’s just a place holder until an actual date, normally further out, is announced.

Here’s hoping the trailer isn’t a red herring for more green blood and zombies that sink inexplicably into the grass.

If you love zombies, George A. Romero is back with a new film!

Published

28 years later

Danny Boyle is revisiting his 28 Days Later universe with three new films. He will direct the first, 28 Years Later, with two more to follow. Deadline is reporting that sources say Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have been cast for the first entry, a sequel to the original. Details are being kept under wraps so we don’t know how or if the first original sequel 28 Weeks Later fits into the project.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes

Boyle will direct the first movie but it’s unclear which role he will take on in the subsequent films. What is known is Candyman (2021) director Nia DaCosta is scheduled to direct the second film in this trilogy and that the third will be filmed immediately afterward. Whether DaCosta will direct both is still unclear.

Alex Garland is writing the scripts. Garland is having a successful time at the box office right now. He wrote and directed the current action/thriller Civil War which was just knocked out of the theatrical top spot by Radio Silence’s Abigail.

There is no word yet on when, or where, 28 Years Later will start production.

28 Days Later

The original film followed Jim (Cillian Murphy) who wakes from a coma to find that London is currently dealing with a zombie outbreak.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
