This Day in Horror History: January 3rd

The day is January 3rd, and you’re going to love this day in horror history!

Mara Corday born January 3, 1930

She was a bombshell who appeared in a whole host of creature features and B-movies. Break out Tarantula from 1955 or The Giant Claw from 1957 and look for the gorgeous Ms. Corday.

Conrad Brooks born on January 3, 1931

It all began working with Ed Wood on Glen or Glenda….  Conrad Brooks has been working in horror films with controversial directors ever since. Look for him in Plan 9 From Outer Space, Blood Slaves of Vampire Wolf, The Atomic Space Bug, and so many more!

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde debuts January 3, 1932

Starring Frederic March and Ivy Pearson, this was not the first film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famed novel, but it was one of the best and it remains a classic to this day.

Matt Ross born on January 3, 1970

I’m not sure when I first became aware of Matt Ross.  It could have been in American Psycho or his portrayal of neurotic post-cognitive Emery Waterman in Rose Red, but I know that by the time he came to “American Horror Story”, he was one of my very favorite character actors and he remains so to this day.

Jason Marsden born on January 3, 1975

Jason Marsden’s youthful voice has kept him working for 30 years, now. The talented actor has given voice to a host of characters over the years, but it’s because of certain black cat named Thackery Binx in Hocus Pocus, for which he provided the voice, that brings him to this list and this day in horror history.
