Exclusive Photo: Is Chucky Turning Human in ‘Cult of Chucky?’

Written by Patti Pauley

It may still be 100-degrees outside, but that’s not stopping the iHorror team from dreaming about the cooler days of October and all the glorious treasures the month that truly belongs to us will bring.

The changing of the leaves, hay rides, pumpkin carving, and the highly anticipated release of the seventh movie in the Child’s Play series, Cult of Chucky!

While we patiently wait for Chucky’s triumphant return for another round of “hide the soul“,  the Cult of Chucky team sent iHorror a very curious still from the movie that is raising a ton of questions around here. The photo below features a mischievous Chucky holding a tube of compressed oxygen giving actress Grace Lynn Kung (The Cube 2: Hypercube) his signature “You’re f***ed” look that we all know so well.

However, if you look a little closer at Chucky’s right hand, there’s something really weird going on there guys.

Chucky is rockin’ a demonized, human, mutated-like hand and I have so many questions, Mr. Don Mancini.

The centered plot around the Child’s Play franchise has always been consistent with Chucky trying to acquire a human body before his soul becomes entrapped in the doll and have to live the rest of his days as a plastic play pal. Is this image a hint that we might be seeing everyone’s favorite Good Guy transforming into a more human form?

The consistency between the right and left hand seems to indicate something is definitely happening there as clearly the left hand is a shiny plastic and the right hand is, well, sporting a more human-like epidermis layer with claws and all. Take note, this is clearly just speculation on my part. For all I know, Chucky could just be suffering from a smashed hand injury.  However, I prefer the initial theory, because it’s just more fun. I’ve enlarged a closer look at the query at hand for you to decide.

Here’s a synopsis of the film:

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica (Fiona Dourif) is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool — a “Good Guy” doll — a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

The Cult of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Michael Therriault, Elisabeth Rosen, Zak Santiago, Summer H. Howell, Grace Lynn Kung, Allison Dawn Doiron,  Adam Hurtig and Brad Dourif of course as Chucky. Don Mancini serves as director and writer with Child’s Play native David Kirschner producing.

Cult of Chucky slashes its way to VOD and Blu-Ray this October 3rd, 2017.

Watch ‘The Burning’ At The Location Where It Was Filmed

Published

on

Fangoria is reporting that fans of the 1981 slasher The Burning will be able to have a screening of the film at the location where it was filmed. The movie is set at Camp Blackfoot which is actually the Stonehaven Nature Preserve in Ransomville, New York.

This ticketed event will take place on August 3. Guests will be able to take a tour of the grounds as well as enjoy some campfire snacks along with the screening of The Burning.

The Burning

The film came out in the early ’80s when teen slashers were being churned out in magnum force. Thanks to Sean S. Cunningham’s Friday the 13th, filmmakers wanted to get in on the low-budget, high-profit movie market and a casket load of these types of films were produced, some better than others.

The Burning is one of the good ones, mostly because of the special effects from Tom Savini who had just come off of his groundbreaking work on Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. He declined to do the sequel because of its illogical premise and instead signed on to do this movie. Also, a young Jason Alexander who would later go on to play George in Seinfeld is a featured player.

Because of its practical gore, The Burning had to be heavily edited before it received an R-rating. The MPAA was under the thumb of protest groups and political bigwigs to censor violent films at the time because slashers were just so graphic and detailed in their gore.

Tickets are $50, and if you want a special t-shirt, that will cost you another $25, You can get all the information by visiting the On Set Cinema webpage.
